Another StatsCan report released this week on participation in environmentally active lifstyles reports that, “about 45% of Canadian households had very environmentally active lifestyles in 2006, as measured by their participation in at least four of six selected environmental behaviours”. Here is the breakdown:
recycling (97%),
compact fluorescent light bulbs (59%)
low-flow shower head (56%)
lowering temperatures (54%)
reduced flush volume toilet [...]

A StatsCan report released today shows that individuals are responsible for almost half of Canada’s total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. So, convenient as it is to deflect responsibility for GHG to big industry, we’re all a piece of this mess:
That study was in 2004, with overall emissions increasing 13% from about 285 900 kilotonnes in 1990 to 321 700 kilotonnes in 2004.
