Green Pledge

Participants in Sheridan Cares care enough to promise to abide by the Green Pledge.

I/we pledge to actively reduce our environmental footprint by decreasing consumption and increasing sustainability through action, awareness and taking responsibility. I/we will:

  • Provide and use clearly marked recycling containers, monitor them to ensure proper use and avoid contamination, and satisfy ourselves that the contents are being disposed of properly.
  • Divert as much waste as possible from the garbage, even if it means taking things home if they can be diverted there (e.g., green bin materials).
  • Analyze our own work habits and make suggestions to others either directly or through the SheridanCares blog on an ongoing basis to reduce consumption of resources (such as electricity, paper, etc.).
  • Make personal and corporate (within Sheridan’s requirements for cost and quality) purchasing choices that consider environmental “value” like product impact, waste and longevity.
  • Identify specific people to take responsibility for particular tasks that reduce consumption, (like turning off power-using devices).
  • Promote ways to recycle, to reuse, and to reduce consumption in this workplace by using some variation of a bulletin/notice board and by contributing our ideas to the Sheridan Cares blog.

AND

  • We will actively make suggestions to users of our facility to help them help us to achieve our goals of decreasing consumption and increasing sustainability.
